Emma Tring, Soprano
Emma Tring studied Music at Bristol University and Guildhall School of Music and Drama and is now a successful soloist and ensemble singer in the UK and abroad.
As a soloist, Emma specialises in contemporary music and has premiered many works by composers including Michael Finnissy, John Pickard, Gabriel Jackson and Andrew Toovey. Most recently a BIS recording with Martyn Brabbins and BBCNOW of John Pickard’s song cycle Verlaine Songs, which he wrote for Emma.
She has performed as soloist with BBCNOW, BBCSO, BBCSSO, BBCCO, LSO, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, English Sinfonia, Nu Civilisation Orchestra, Orchestra of Opera North and Britten Sinfonia.
Emma is a long term member of the BBC Singers and EXAUDI and she recently joined new vocal ensemble, Vox Urbane, whose aim is to promote diversity within choral music.
Emma is also a keen recitalist and enjoys performing with her violinist husband Robin Martin in Alexandra Ensemble which they re-launched in 2024 with premieres by Michael Finnissy, John Pickard and Nick Korth.
Emma is looking forward to a busy Proms season with the BBC Singers, highlights include: Berio’s Sinfonia with CBSO; Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk with BBC Philharmonic; and the Last Night of the Proms conducted by Elim Chan.
